How it works

Fill

Fill the reservoir with about 118 ml (4 oz) of water. No wiring, no app, no pump to prime.

Place over your plant

Slide the clear ABS plastic rods into your pot, 13 cm (5 inches) or larger, and let the cloud hover just above the leaves.

Watch it rain

Gravity pulls each drop through tiny holes in the base. Five to ten minutes of gentle rain, no shortcuts.

Even soak, no shock

A slow, even soak instead of a sudden flood, so moisture spreads through the soil instead of running past the roots.

Best in pots 13 cm (5 inches) or larger. Not every plant is a top-drip fit, the plant-by-plant guide is in the FAQ below.

A five to ten minute ritual, every few days, built for when you're home. Not a system for the days you're away.

About Driftcloud

Turn everyday plant care into a small, calming ritual with Driftcloud, a gravity-fed rain simulator that gently hydrates your plant while doubling as a piece of decor.

Fill the reservoir, hang it over your pot, and watch a soft micro-rain fall for 5-to-10 minutes, mimicking natural rainfall. The slow, steady drip lets water absorb more evenly than a sudden pour from a watering can, supporting healthier roots without the guesswork.

Each cloud holds about 118 ml (4 oz) of water and comes with clear ABS plastic rods for easy placement in your pot, 13 cm (5 inches) or larger. Simply fill, place, and enjoy a few minutes of quiet, meditative drip. This is a quick, repeatable ritual, not a vacation auto-waterer.

You are ordering the Driftcloud cloud and rods only. The pot and plant shown in photos are for scale and are not included.

A thoughtful gift for plant lovers and indoor gardeners, Driftcloud adds a small ritual to a routine most people rush through.

Built to actually hold up

Clear ABS plastic rods. A gravity reservoir. Nothing to break.

No pump, no seals, no electronics to fail. Just a reservoir, a set of clear ABS plastic rods, and gravity doing the work. It's built to hang quietly over the pots you already have, on a shelf you've spent years curating.

Why Driftcloud feels different

Watering globes & ollas

  • Clog with soil over time
  • No control over how fast they drain
  • Inserted into the soil, hard to check or clean

Driftcloud

  • Sits above the soil on its own rods, nothing buried in soil to clog
  • Five to ten minutes, absorbed evenly, nothing wasted
  • A floating cloud your shelf gets to keep

Fit Guide

Will it fit your pot?

Part Size
Minimum pot diameter 13 cm (5 in)
Cloud head 11.8 x 4 cm (4.6 x 1.6 in)
Rods 20 cm (7.9 in) long, exactly two
Reservoir 118 ml (4 oz)

Measurements are for the Driftcloud unit only. Smaller pots risk the rods tipping over.

How does Driftcloud actually work?

Fill the reservoir, about 118 ml (4 oz), with water. Gravity pulls it through tiny holes in the base, breaking it into individual drops that fall for five to ten minutes. No pump, no batteries, just gravity. For the steadiest drip, fill it close to full each time, a half-full reservoir means less water pressure pushing the drops through.

Is this an auto-waterer for vacations?

No, and we'd rather tell you now than have you find out the hard way. The reservoir empties in five to ten minutes, so it's a repeatable ritual, not a system that runs while you're gone for days. Heading out of town? Ask a neighbor to fill it. The cloud can't do that part on its own yet.

Will this work for my plant?

Driftcloud works best in pots 13 cm (5 inches) or larger, and suits plants that like consistent moisture, think Monstera, Pothos, and Calathea. Succulents and cacti prefer to dry out completely between waterings, so they're a less natural fit for top-drip watering. Plants with fine, feathery leaves, like ferns, can also be a poor match: water tends to bounce off the foliage instead of reaching the soil.

Will this work with a fussy plant, like Calathea or Alocasia?

Calathea and other tropicals that like consistent moisture tend to do well with a slow top-drip. If your plant is sensitive to water on its leaves or already struggles with humidity swings, watch how it responds and adjust how much you fill. It's a tool for your routine, not a substitute for knowing your plant.

Can I use tap water?

Yes. If you already treat or filter water for sensitive plants, keep doing that. The reservoir doesn't change your water, only how it reaches the soil.

Does the drip opening ever clog?

It can, like any small opening that water passes through repeatedly, especially with hard tap water. If the drip slows down, rinse the base under warm water to clear any mineral buildup. It takes a minute and isn't a sign anything's broken.
